Dear Mr Hamilton-Hunter,

It is a pleasure, as always, to extend to you and your companions the congratulations of myself, Mr Mercer, and the Aeon Society as a whole on the successful conclusion of another case.

Your general conduct in assisting the Maybury family was a credit to the Society, although I am sorry to say that certain concerns have been raised as to your behaviour in specific incidents. As you are aware, the Aeon Society considers human life to be the most precious of all resources and while we regretfully condone the use of terminal force in dire need, it has been suggested that perhaps certain members of your group have exercised less car than is desirable in this regard. Mr Mercer has asked me to refer you to article 17(b) of the Aeon Society Charter (Use of terminal force in the conduct of Aeon Society investigations: Use of firearms), but otherwise we regard this as a matter to be dealt with within your Chapter.

As you may know, the police in New Orleans were at some loss when deciding what crime to charge Marie-Claire Lousanne with, as most of her misdeeds were conducted using her ability to control the will and actions of the young woman known as Erzulie. In order to assist in the resolution of this matter, the Aeon Society provided the New Orleans Police Department with the assistance of a specialist in brainwashing techniques - Dr Matthew Colossus - to testify that Mlle. Erzulie's blameful actions were the direct and foreseeable result of Mlle. Lousanne's malicious intent. Dr Colossus was also able to firmly establish Mlle. Erzulie's innocence under law with respect to several charges that were to be brought, including assault on M. Dessier and Mrs Arabella Maybury, and the abduction of Miss Amelia Maybury.

As matters stand, Mlle. Erzulie stands to face only a handful of charges, and with the assistance of a lawyer provided by the Aeon Society, should hopefully avoid a custodial sentence. Her physical wounds are healing with quite exceptional speed and completeness. She seems to scar very little, based on the condition of her skin compared to the beatings which she is known to have received. More serious are the psychic wounds which Mlle. Erzulie has suffered, and at her request the Society is searching for an alienist with experience in this area, to assist in her recovery from the crimes which were perpetrated against her by this self-styled witch queen.

It may also interest you to know that - based on interviews conducted by Dr Colossus - we believe Mlle. Erzulie to have been the victim of abduction as an infant. We have several detectives attempting to trace Mlle. Erzulie's natural parents.

Mlle. Erzulie, who seems to have found a place - at least temporarily - in the Maybury household, sends her deepest thanks and affectionate regards to each of you. Miss Amelia Maybury also sends her thanks, and her particular regards to you, Mr Hamilton-Hunter. She also asked that we pass on the thanks of her brother, Jean, and mother, Arabella.

Police investigations into M. Dupres' involvement with the major criminal syndicates in New Orleans have unfortunately stalled in the face of M. Dupres' considerable resistance to standard police interrogation methods. It would seem that he is also resistant to non-standard methods, as he has been admitted to hospital twice in the past three weeks, but this without notable results. Interrogation of Marie-Claire Lousanne has proven similarly fruitless.

Police have however had some success in questioning some of M. Dupres and Mlle. Lousanne's associates, and while they have been somewhat reluctant to share information with the Society, they have made a number of arrests in New Orleans black gang community. The New Orleans Police Department is highly satisfied with this outcome, but, having recently visited the city in order to interview a number of contacts in regard to the attached report (Case File #502 Summary), I feel bound to note that our sources indicate that the real kingpins in the syndicates are primarily wealthy white males, who are being overlooked - perhaps deliberately - in the rush to arrest small time coloured criminals.

We have people looking into this angle, but at present can do little to influence the actions or attitudes of the New Orleans Police Department.

Once again, our congratulations on a job well done.

Best regards,

Abigail Wright (Miss)
Secretary of the Aeon Society for Gentlemen
