After the better - or possibly the worse - part of a century of cold war, Langara is richly supplied in military might. Even after the destruction wrought by the Goa'uld assault, the three main military groups - The Kelownan Military, the Terranian Legions and the Andari Armed Forces - account for almost one-tenth of Langara's population, one-fifth of the employment and one-quarter of the economic expenditure.
Unlike terrestrial forces, Langara's military groups have no tradition of separate service branches. Land and sea power are parts of a single organisation, which now also incorporates the emergent air forces.
